Going To Be Joined is a free site. It costs you nothing, nada, nil, zip. Support of the site comes from our advertisers – we hope, in exchange for having your own free site, you’ll support them.
Over the last year, since the site’s inception, we’ve worked hard to make its design easy on the eye and to make its operation straightforward for you, the user.
Going To Be Joined is not a wedding planning site like the many you can find on the internet. This site focuses on two primary elements of a ‘wedding’ – the two most important elements – you and your guests (in that order). Going To Be Joined allows you to set up your own, beautiful and dedicated wedding site. It’s designed for you to communicate anything and everything about you and your wedding with family and friends. Going To Be Joined gives them an opportunity to participate in your wedding in a much greater way.
But what Going To Be Joined also does is provide you with all the components of your wedding that involve guests. From the initial announcement, to the invitation, receiving their RSVP then tracking who’s coming, and where you’ll be sating them – a critically important and difficult part of the process.
In keeping with the ‘Everything About the Guests’ part of your wedding, another important element of their participation is the selection of the Wedding Gift, there is one key feature of this site that makes it even more unique and that’s the Dream Registry – the idea from which this site began.
The idea for Going To Be Joined came about when the daughter and future son-in-law of the site’s publishers conveyed their disappointment in being unable to find a Honeymoon Registry that suited their vision. While there were lots of Honeymoon Registry sites, they were all too specific. This couple wanted to travel the way they wanted to, to stay at different hotels that offered the best price. They wanted to be able to check in and out at their convenience and they needed help covering the costs of dining out, cabs, rental cars – all the bits that go with a city trip.
So the publishers of Going To Be Joined created a one page site specific to their daughter’s needs that guests could visit and using a PayPal link, make a contribution to the couple’s Honeymoon Dream Registry. To the delight of the bride & groom, all their wedding guests made a contribution online and they had exactly the kind of honeymoon they were hoping for, plus cash left over that went towards a down payment on their first home.
The developers started out wanting to create a site that would make it easy and comfortable for guests to give cash gifts to whatever it was that the couple wanted; whether a down payment, a better car, new furnishings; the possibilities are endless.
The site’s developers also realized that because the Dream Registry would become a communication tool for the bride & groom, that the Going To Be Joined site should offer couples the ability to share their wedding with friends and family from the initial announcement right through to after the honeymoon. If a couple could create their own site within our site, then they could invite, message, work on the seating plan and include a Dream Registry.
So that was the mission. Create a site that the couple could then use to create their very own, customized and extensive Wedding Site and make it a site that they can depend on to help them communicate and organize as well as design their very own Dream Registry!
